PRESS RELEASE: NEW COLLECTIVE ACTION INITIATIVE TO DRIVE BUSINESS INTEGRITY IN MALAYSIAN COMMERCIAL

KUALA LUMPUR, 1st December 2016

The Business Integrity Alliance, a collective action initiative to drive business integrity in the Malaysian commercial environment, was launched today. As part of its launch, the Alliance organised an exclusive breakfast dialogue between top representatives of companies and YB Senator Datuk Paul Low, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Integrity, Governance and Human Rights.

Starting with members of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Alliance hopes to recruit companies which share the Alliance’s vision of positively impacting the Malaysian commercial environment with respect to business integrity good practice.

About Business Integrity Alliance

The Business Integrity Alliance is a private sector programme initiated by Dr Mark Lovatt, CEO of Trident Integrity Solutions Sdn Bhd and Tuan Haji Mohd. Shah bin Hashim, former President of UN Global Compact Network Malaysia. Three outstanding companies, Digi Telecommunications, Top Glove Berhad and Thumbprints United Sdn Bhd, have now joined the Alliance as pioneering Partners taking a leading role in the direction and oversight of the organization. The Alliance brings together companies committed to doing business with integrity, and through collective action engage with the relevant agencies (government and otherwise) to overcome corruption factors affecting the business environment.

The objective of the Alliance is to create value from business integrity. The activities include corruption focus area mapping sessions, with representation to the Government on integrity issues affecting businesses; best practice sharing amongst partner companies; and further initiatives designed to strengthen good practice and assist companies committed to integrity to prosper. To achieve its vision, the Alliance has established a working arrangement with the Integrity and Governance Division or Bahagian Integriti Tadbir Urus (BITU), a department under YB Senator Datuk Paul Low.
